From an Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspective, we explore ethics of care and relational ethics in robotics and AI to understand how technologies (co)produce responsibilities, interdependences and ways of living together.
We examine technological mediation and the politics of technologies, fostering more inclusive, critical, and participatory approaches to the design and use of scientific and technical innovations.
We also address the effects of technologies by examining how power, values, and social inequalities are embedded in technical systems and innovation processes. Drawing on qualitative social science methodologies (such as ethnography, interviews, and focus groups) we develop conceptual frameworks and empirical evidences to understand how robotics and AI shape social relationships, ethical responsibilities, and decision-making processes, informing both policy and design practices.
